Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How far in advance do I need to get shots for my trip?

A: 4-6 weeks is optimal. However, you still need to call Global Health Services, Inc. if your trip just came up so we can expedite your immunizations.

Q: Can I get the flu from a flu shot?

A: No.  The Influenza vaccine is not a live vaccine.

Q: Do I need immunizations for travel to Mexico?

A: Yes.  Immunizations are recommended for travel to Mexico.

Q: Do I need immunizations to go on an International Cruise?

A: Yes.  International cruises stop at many ports of call where you can be exposed to health risks.

Q: Do I need to take Malaria Medication each time I travel to a risk area?

A: Yes.  Malaria Medication is only effective as long as you are taking it. If you are a client of Global Health Services, Inc., we can call in a prescription for each trip you take to a malarial area.

Q: If I was born in another country do I need shots to go back and visit?

A: Yes.  You lose any natural immunity you might once have had.  If you go back home to visit, you will be at risk for travel disease just like a tourist.

Q: How often do I need to update my shots?

A: Global Health Services, Inc. provides each traveler with an information card listing the duration of your shots. If you travel for business, we will also send you an email reminder.
